Overview
Archaeological prospection attempts to investigate the archaeological context through maps and visualizations that are obtained from various geophysical methods. In restoration and conservation studies, the use of non-destructive techniques, including geophysical methods, is important in identifying buried features inside and outside of these structures and any significant construction problems they might have. Today, non-destructive archaeological investigation methods (aerial photography, geophysical measurements, GPS, GIS and other techniques) are permanently used more frequently because of their high performance in visualisation of subsurface of archaeological sites versus to low investigation price. In the last decade we observed an increase in large-scale geophysical implementations and imaging surveys in archaeological sites all around the world.
